What it is

A simple 8-bit home computer based around 6502 architecture processor, SID sound chip and VIC video chip. Microsoft BASIC in ROM.

Equipment

C64 computer itself

  • Has an aftermarket transformer PSU

CRT display

  • Green phosphorus
  • Composite in
  • Speaker
  • Audio in

1541 floppy unit

  • Currently the only storage option
  • There's at least one good DD floppy available for use
    • Needs DD, not HD. That is "360K double-sided" for PCs, not the "1.2MB"
    • There's technically a deck of ~15 floppies
      • TODO: backup, inspect
  • There's a DIY xu1541 USB adapter (works with OpenCBM)

Using the computer

The computer, its power supply, CRT and the floppy unit all need to be powered on separately.

Prepare some BASIC knowledge.

Get a frontal lobotomy.
