What is this
A whiteboard drawing bot project. We didn't design the thing, but we built a couple of robots. Along the way, we made modifications and learned a lot.

Among things we learned is that it's a perfect project to get start with robotics.

Here's where it comes from:

https://www.niklasroy.com/robotfactory/

The above link actually contains everything needed to get the bot going. Below are adjustments for parts we had.

Our modifications
Our FreeCAD model is here: tiny_turtle_plotter_CAD.FCStd

Modified parts typically have "new" in their name. Sorry if it's messy. First time FreeCAD.

<gallery>
File:Turtle-endstop.jpg|Different endstop microswitch
File:Turtle-switch-ball.jpg|Different size roller and endstop
File:Turtle-ball.jpg|Roller ball
File:Turtle-steppers.jpg|Stepper motors
File:Turtle-pen-lifter.jpg|Hacked pen lifter
</gallery>

Endstops
The microswitches come in different shapes and forms. We added extra prongs to the bumper ring to engage with wider range of microswitches.

Roller ball
We used a larger furniture ball, which in turn means we had to make room in the parts in two lowest layer and make the wheels larger.

Wheels
The wheels were too small, possibly because our roller ball was bigger. They were also rubbing against layers 1 and 2, and appeared to be made for 5mm shaft in the stepper (our had 6mm). This has, of course, thrown off the geometry. a little.

We also had different size tyres.

Power banks
Ones we had didn't fit. We adjusted the layers 1 and made different versions of the upper ring to hold them in place.

Pen lifter
One robot is equipped with a more precise pen lifter that utilizes linear motion bearings (LM8) on 8mm rods.

What is this
A whiteboard drawing bot project. We didn't design the thing, but we built a couple of robots. Along the way, we made modifications and learned a lot.

Among things we learned is that it's a perfect project to get start with robotics.

Here's where it comes from:

https://hackaday.com/2025/09/02/this-plotter-knows-no-boundaries/

https://www.niklasroy.com/robotfactory/

The above link actually contains everything needed to get the bot going. Below are adjustments for parts we had.

Our modifications
Our FreeCAD model is here: tiny_turtle_plotter_CAD.FCStd

Modified parts typically have "new" in their name. Sorry if it's messy. First time FreeCAD.

Endstops
The microswitches come in different shapes and forms. We added extra prongs to the bumper ring to engage with wider range of microswitches.
What is this
A whiteboard drawing bot project. We didn't design the thing, but we built a couple of robots. Along the way, we made modifications and learned a lot.

Among things we learned is that it's a perfect project to get start with robotics.

Here's where it comes from:

https://hackaday.com/2025/09/02/this-plotter-knows-no-boundaries/

https://www.niklasroy.com/robotfactory/

The above link actually contains everything needed to get the bot going. Below are adjustments for parts we had.

Our modifications
Our FreeCAD model is here: tiny_turtle_plotter_CAD.FCStd

Modified parts typically have "new" in their name. Sorry if it's messy. First time FreeCAD.

</gallery>

Control Board
What is this
A whiteboard drawing bot project. We didn't design the thing, but we built a couple of robots. Along the way, we made modifications and learned a lot.

Among things we learned is that it's a perfect project to get start with robotics.

Here's where it comes from:

https://hackaday.com/2025/09/02/this-plotter-knows-no-boundaries/

https://www.niklasroy.com/robotfactory/

The above link actually contains everything needed to get the bot going. Below are adjustments for parts we had.

Our modifications
Our FreeCAD model is here:

https://codeberg.org/lubko/turtle-robot/src/branch/main/tiny_turtle_plotter_CAD.FCStd

Modified parts typically have "new" in their name.

<gallery>
File:555688595 1215584740611888 2776984424721907890 n.jpg|3D-printed parts for original build
File:Turtle-endstop.jpg|Different endstop microswitch
File:Turtle-switch-ball.jpg|Different size roller and endstop
File:Turtle-ball.jpg|Roller ball
File:Drawbot-ball2.jpg|Roller ball
File:Turtle-wheels.jpg|Wheels and tyres
File:Turtle-wheels1.jpg|Wheels
File:Turtle-carriage.jpg|Wheel carriage
File:Turtle-steppers.jpg|Stepper motors
</gallery>

Control Board
What is this
A whiteboard drawing bot project. We didn't design the thing, but we built a couple of robots. Along the way, we made modifications and learned a lot.

Among things we learned is that it's a perfect project to get start with robotics.

Here's where it comes from:

https://hackaday.com/2025/09/02/this-plotter-knows-no-boundaries/

https://www.niklasroy.com/robotfactory/

The above link actually contains everything needed to get the bot going. Below are adjustments for parts we had.

Our modifications

What it is
A segment of a panel with 768 RGB LEDs on one side driven by chains shift registers on the other side.

The PCB is marked:

BTC004.1
24x32_10
RGB

Not sure which city is it operated in. Brno has green only panels and Bratislava got RGB but of different size.

Theory of operation
LEDs are organized into 24 x 32 pattern on one side, drivers are organized into a grid of 18 x 16 drivers. Three lines of LEDs snake around and are driven by a line of drivers on the other side.

Rows do have common CLK and LE signals. This means both halves of the row must be fed in parallel, but rows are entirely independent of each other.

Mounting
Needs figuring out.

Panel got a plenty of mounting holes.

There's a diffuser (from an old LCD?).
Nextcloud is a self-hosted cloud platform here at base available by going to https://nextcloud.at.base48.cz. It is hosted on-premises and is intended to promote member collaboration - be it a shared folder with schematics, keeping track of tasks, or collaboratively drafting markdown documentation.

How to access?
The login is performed through Keycloak. Nextcloud will attempt to redirect you automatically, if not there will be a button for logging in with Base48 Keycloak. Account creation during first login can take up to 2 minutes, and the page will hang for a bit - that's (unfortunate but) normal.

Are there any rules?
Be nice, respect other people's stuff, and remember that all of the stuff is hosted at base physically and illegal things will get us in trouble.

Is my data encrypted?
Yes. There's an enc-to-end encryption module available and all data is encrypted at rest with a key derived from your keycloak identity. While your data isn't as safe as if you hosted your own cloud, it is at least relatively safe (and much more private) compared to other cloud file storages. Admins may be able to access your data if immense amount of effort is put into compromising the system, but there's no easy way to snoop in your files.

I want to use a nextcloud client that fails to authenticate with keycloak
You can create a single-use password for simple login-password authentication by going to Nextcloud's Personal Settings -> Security -> Fill in the app's name on the bottom -> Create App Password.

Wouldn't it be too slow due to Starlink?
While dealing with starlink is unavoidable (at the moment), while you are physically at base (and are connected to base lan), you connect directly to nextcloud - bypassing the reverse proxy hosted on vpsfree. This allows for best performance that avoids bottlenecks like starlink, since you're sitting physically next to where your data is.

Base proxmox cluster
Base48 provides access to a proxmox server located on-premise at the hackerspace!

How do I log in?
Navigate to https://proxmox.at.base48.cz/ and select the Hackerspace realm:

You should be redirected to Keycloak and you can use your Memberportal credentials to login.

Are there any rules?
short answer? Don't be stupid.

Long answer?

* Don't overprovision, your debian vm probably doesn't need 32gb of ram.
* Be nice to other people, don't migrate or kill other people's VMs/CTs.
* Make it clear what's yours, put your username into VM/CT names.
* Don't land anyone in jail, keep it legal.
* If you're not sure or need help, ask service admin: Vega (msg@vega76.cz)

Disclaimer:
* All members (except rada) have same permissions to everything.
* There's no disk encryption of the cluster. If you want disk encryption, encrypt your VMs.
* All nodes are on base premises.
* Live migration is not guaranteed for VMs, and is not supported for CTs.

Layout:
The cluster contains of 3 nodes:
* <code>master</code>: big old xeon server in the grey case.
* <code>polydrive2</code>: small black HPe NAS next to master.
* <code>printer-control3</code>: Dell SFF PC under the printer rack. (polydrive and printer-control donated by vega)

Networking:
* 1gbit to all nodes from base lan.
* 20gbit between master and polydrive.
* 1gbit only for printer-control. (2x10G NICs and copper donated by snajpa)

Storage:
* every node has a 4TB drive in it that's ZFS replicated between all nodes every 15min. (Disks donated by vega)
